The “Food Vending Machine”, designed to deliver in-kind aid to those in need living in Kadiköy, was put into practice for the first time in Turkey in Kadiköy.Those in need, identified by professional staff of Kad?köy Municipality such as psychologists, sociologists and social workers, will be able to get their own food and cleaning parcels by entering the password to be sent to their mobile phones, on the panel on the food vending machine, without contacting anyone.

The food vending machine project, realized in cooperation with Kadiköy Municipality, Basic Needs Association (TIDER) and Oxivo, aims to minimize the risk of contamination due to the pandemic and not to see the "helper and the needy" during cooperation. With the pilot project to be implemented for the first time in Turkey, 100 households will be reached at the first stage.

Located next to the Stray Animals Rehabilitation and Training Center of Kadiköy Municipality in Merdivenköy, the food vending machine with a capacity of 20 cabinets has two different types of parcels containing food and cleaning products.In addition to the food and cleaning boxes that can meet the needs of a family for one month, the vending machine also includes products such as biscuits, wafers, shampoo and toothpaste that are not included in the boxes.While there are food materials such as tomato paste, oil, legumes, salt, flour in the food package; The hygiene box includes products such as soap, detergent and bleach.The location of the pilot project started in Merdivenköy was chosen as an inconspicuous but safe area where those in need could walk.

Those in need, who are identified by professional elements such as psychologists, sociologists and social workers working in Kadiköy Municipality, can receive parcels by entering the code to be included in the SMS on their mobile phones to the vending panel at any time.In the project, whose design and software was developed by Oxivo, the needy, suppliers or municipal employees will not touch each other. Empty vending machine compartments will be regularly filled with new ones by TIDER. Products donated by individuals and companies within the scope of "food banking" will meet with those in need.
